Chili is Your Diet’s Best Friend

Lots of people like adding chili to different foods, either as one of dish’s ingredients or as a side dish, with that extra special kick added to regular daily dishes. Chilies are prepared in many different ways; as chili puree “Haressa”, pickled, crushed or grounded black pepper seeds, etc.

The food cultures of many countries use chili as a basic ingredient in their dishes as the case in India and South America.

Despite the medical warnings about the impact s of excessive ingestion of hot chili on health and the medical conditions resulting thereof such as hemorrhoids and colon disorders, many of the modern research confirmed that hot chili can help in curing cold, flue and soar- throat conditions due to its high content of vitamin C.

It increases the fats burning rate, enhance metabolism thus aiding in weight loss.

Chili is an effective factor in reducing harmful cholesterol levels in the body and inhibits triglycerides formation.

Chili is a preventive factor in cardiac arrests; it inhibits formation of blood clots and arteriosclerosis.

Chili Cauliflower with Sesame Seeds


  • 1 cauliflower
  • 4 tablespoons of sesame seeds
  • 2 teaspoons of cumin seeds
  • 1-2 dried hot chili pods
  • Salt
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • Zest of 1 lemon.


  • Remove outer leaves of the cauliflower and start cutting it into separate flowers, in this step you shall not need the stirring arm.
  • Pour 3 liters of water and boil it, then add the cauliflower and leave it in for 10- 15 min; afterwards strain it and let it set aside.
  • In another bowl add sesame seeds and stir them into golden color and let them set aside.
  • Meanwhile ground the cumin seeds in the mortar with the dried hot chili and a pinch of salt. Add olive oil and the ground spices into the owl and stir.
  • Add the cauliflower and leave them for another 25 minutes till  golden and crispy, then add roasted sesame seeds the lemon juice and zest into the bowl.
  • Serve the mix into a platter with favorite roasted chicken, fish, meat or curry dishes.
